The two people in the photographs above are my great grandfather and great grandmother, Thomas and Alice Sherman. They are the parents of Ada Crutchley, my paternal grandmother. Records show that they lived in Walsall, and later in Willenhall. According to family memories their home in Willenhall was located on Railway Lane.

Judging by the ages and dress of Thomas and Alice, it would appear that the above motorcycle photograph was taken sometime around 1920. The original image, now highly blackened by age has a metallic base that is most likely tin plate, making it almost cefrtainly the oldest photograph in the family collection.
