This is a photograph of my father Sidney Crutchley, taken whilst he was working at Hartshornes Motor Services in Walsall. I am not entirely sure of the date of this particular image, but it must have been taken sometime during the 1960s. I do know that Dad is seen here seated on a Triumph motorcycle.

A company called Hartshornes Motor Services is still in operation today, based at Bentley Mill Close in Walsall. The present day company deals in trucks, parts and commercial vehicle maintenance. The original company bearing the Hartshornes name was founded as a haulage business, by E. Hartshorne in the early twentieth century. This early iteration of the business operated from Bull Street in Darlaston, apparently with a fleet of army-surplus trucks obtained when the Great War ended.
